How to make sense of cancer man?

i had an encounter with the same type of person (also a cancer) with the same type of way to go about things, and till this day still dont understand his perspective on his actions.. i think it just stems from his own insecurities.. im not sure if hes afraid to commit or that he just has this shell and just needs to know for sure ur okay to let his guard down for, hense the game playing a little but it really might not be a concious effort on his part. just let it flow and keep ur faith :)
