Need help from Gimp users!?

Perhaps, you are not Right-click on the Layers, Channels, Path floating pallet? As soon as you type with the text tool in a new document, a Text Layer shows up in that pallet. Right-click brings up everything you say. Do the Path from Text, Select(Menu) From Path. That gives the marching ants.
