1994 ford ranger 4x4 4.0 auto fuel pump?

i got a 1994 ford ranger 4x4 and i was driving down the road the other day and my truck just quits it would turn over but wouldnt crank so i realized that there was no sound comming from the fuel pump so i bought another fuel pump the truck still will not crank does anybody know the problem.
