Help with program gimp 2?

Okay well today i was using gimp and i edited some photo and all and when i saved it it went to ,y folder but when i open also the program gimp comes up with the photo so i mean i cant upload it to anything. I want it to show only the picture i edited. I DONT want to use any other program unless there is no way to do this one though, so if anyone know how to please tell me ive been trying to find out all night long and i gave up. Oh and the 'open with...' stuff like that dont seem to idk they say thingsmlike that they cant use that file.
