My 8 month old always wants to be held?

Its been a week now and we're getting fed up! All she wants is to be held and for us to walk around with her all day. Is this just a faze? She was such a good baby before this, now all she does is cry and freak out unless she's held. We let her cry at times to show her she can't be held all the time but after a while you gotta pick her up cause its almost like she's not breathing from crying so much! Help! Plz tell me its just a faze? How long will this last? Were just so confused and tired of all this crying she does!
